The South Brooklyn property is a detached house with a small garage. Bone/Levine Architects’ approach was to renovate the existing structures to create a bespoke work of architecture, respectful to the neighborhood’s quiet, distinguished character, yet having a clear architectural identity of its own. A ditached secondary structure was transformed into a garage and home work space. The renovation of the existing 1920’s wood framed house enhanced the envelope to achieve passive energy standards. And a full interior renovation and open plan created a simple but elegant three bedroom house.
