Aging buildings often require new equipment, elevators, boilers, electrical and fire safety systems. Mechanical Engineers are central to this process, however, Architects play a critical role working to coordinate the total project, fire safety requirements, the aesthetic impact on interiors, the filings with various agencies and logistical coordination during construction. Mechanical engineers are often not well equipped (or not willing) to do many of the supporting activities. The new regulatory environment on energy use is also driving system upgrades. BLA has worked with many buildings to install new cooling towers, boilers, elevators and electrical and data systems. Get in touch for more info.
